History of this museum
The Museum, located in Givat Ram near the Israel Museum Jerusalem was founded in 1992 by Elie Borowski to house his personal collection. On a previous visit in 1981 he was encouraged to bring his collection to Israel and build a museum following his vision. Then City mayor Teddy Kolllek made it possible for him to do just that.
Quoting Dr Borowsky, a Near Eastern scholar who built this collection during a period of 40 years:
“Each of the objects has its time in history, its location in space, its meaning in religion and daily life, and last but not least, its beauty and artistry.”
